The NGS Moderate Growth investment option is the default option for the NGS Income account — if you don't select your own options, your savings will be invested here. This option invests in most of the asset classes we use but has a higher weighting to investments in assets with the potential for medium to long-term growth — like shares, infrastructure and property — and assets that provide more liquidity to meet income needs during retirement.
It may suit you if you need long-term returns and are comfortable with a moderate level of volatility.
INVESTMENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE*
To achieve a net return 3% above consumer price index (CPI) p.a. over rolling 5-year periods.
MINIMUM INVESTMENT TIMEFRAME
At least 10 years.
EXPECTED FREQUENCY OF NEGATIVE RETURN OVER 20-YEAR PERIOD
Approximately 4.1 years in 20.
For information about how we calculate the standard risk measure (SRM) of each investment option, please see section 2 of our Investment guide.
* The trustee is required by law to set this objective. It is neither a forecast nor a guarantee of future investment returns. It is anticipated that the CPI objective should be achieved over the long term. However, due to the volatile nature of investment markets and the lack of direct linkage between market returns and inflation, there may be periods when investment returns are not above the objective.
