Education

OUR EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS

We believe there are few more important jobs than educating and inspiring our children. We look to support teachers, school staff and management in appropriate and meaningful ways that make a difference to their lives and work.

NGS SUPER DEDICATED TO THE DEDICATED AWARDS

Every year we offer up to six $5,000 scholarships that are awarded to members in the education sector who wish to extend their professional development and improve their workplace and sector.

NGS Super partners with peak industry bodies in the education sector as well as supporting and sponsoring a range of education-focused conferences and events around Australia.

Mutuals

People who work in the mutual finance industry work hard to build and sustain their communities. We believe if we can support your hard work, we can help you personally and have a positive impact on the communities you live and work in.

CUFA FIJIAN LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE

Each year NGS Super awards a $5,000 grant to a mutual finance employee enabling them to travel to Fiji to undertake a number of initiatives that develop individuals physically, emotionally, intellectually and culturally.

MUTUAL EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR

The Mutual executive of the year scholarship is designed for leaders working in customer-owned banks, credit unions and building societies. This $15,000 scholarship is awarded each year to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to their industry.

Uniting Church

NGS Super supports the Uniting Church Queensland Synod in its provision of education and church programs. These programs provide important support and services to people in need in local communities.

THE WESLEY HOSPITAL

NGS Super supports the Spirit of Wesley Awards which recognises staff achievements and longevity as nominated by their peers. In 2013, NGS Super also sponsored the inaugural "NGS Super Commitment to Clerical Excellence Award."

PARRAMATTA MISSION - RAISING HOPE FOR HOMELESS WOMEN

NGS Super supports Parramatta Mission as a platinum event sponsor to help raise awareness and funds to address the unmet need of crisis accommodation for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

WHAT IS THE MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC?

Our major community event we sponsor is the annual Mother’s Day Classic. This is Australia’s largest community fun run/walk event raising money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC...
  • Had over 120,000 participants in 2015
  • Held 105 events around the country including 93 regional events in 2015
  • Raised $3.1 million in 2015
  • Has raised $27.4 million since the event’s inception in 1998.
HOW IS NGS INVOLVED?
  • NGS Super has been a long-term, committed supporter of the Mother’s Day Classic.
  • NGS Super is a national silver sponsor of the event
  • NGS Super supports the largest school team in each capital city
  • Staff at NGS Super volunteer to organise, set-up and participate in the event each year
  • Anthony Rodwell-Ball, CEO of NGS Super participates annually in the Boardroom Challenge. Last year he fundraised over $4,000 for the cause.
WHAT HAS THE MOTHER'S DAY CLASSIC ACHIEVED?
  • Increased breast cancer survival rates to 89% - this is up 6% since the Mother’s Day Classic begun in 1998
  • Saved thousands of lives from enhanced detection and treatment options
  • There are over 35 research projects running around Australia with exciting results
  • More women are aware of breast cancer which has increased early detection and saved lives.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE EVENT?

Breast cancer is a wide-reaching disease that impacts on every community, touching one in nine Australian women and one in 688 men. It is one of the greatest causes of death in Australia. The Mother’s Day Classic aims to:

  • Raise money to fund key research projects into the prevention and cure of breast cancer
  • Celebrate and honour those who have been touched by breast cancer
  • Create a fun, healthy and inspiring event that the community can enjoy together on Mother’s Day
  • Raise the profile of breast cancer in our community to help save lives.
